It's nice to hear good news. I received the message below from someone who interacted with our Middle School students at The Sculpture Garden in Minneapolis last Friday during the MS Art Field Trip .
"I wanted to reach out and express how amazing the kids and staff from your school were. Everyone was so respectful and gave us the space we needed to have a great wedding ceremony. I was nervous because any amount of children at a wedding ceremony was hard enough, but I could not get over how peaceful the day turned out."

In our rural area, it's a reality that many children care for themselves and younger siblings without adult supervision or monitoring. Many youth also provide child care services for other families in informal arrangements. The Child Care Clinic training contributes to better quality care for all children and increases child safety. This training will be offered for all students, ages 11 and older.
The clinic will prepare students to care for toddlers, preschoolers and young children; however, we do NOT support youth caring for infants without direct adult supervision .
The educational topics will include:
leadership; decision making; and responsibilities of caring for children
home and community safety, handling emergencies and first aid
child development, basic childcare, positively managing children and difficult behaviors
games, toys, activities and fun for children
professionalism and business practices
money management, saving and financial goal-setting
The clinic will be taught by Mary Wood, Extension Human Development and Family Relationships Educator, and Annie Lisowski, Extension 4-H and Youth Development Educator.
To successfully complete the course, students are expected to: attend all sessions, read the materials, participate fully in activities and skill practices, complete homework assignments and show satisfactory mastery of skills. Students are expected to demonstrate appropriate and responsible behavior at all times or they will be dismissed from the training.
Parents are expected to arrange for the student's transportation home from the Child Care Clinic.
Students are asked to bring a pen or pencil. Cost for the clinic is $10.00, however full or partial scholarships are available if needed. Pre-registration requested by June 14.
Registration can be completed online via

They sang with over 100 other 7th and 8th graders under the direction of Mr. Shawn Gudmunsen, the choir director at St. Croix Falls Middle School. Great job! #gobuffalos
