Parents/Guardians, I would like to share some information with you regarding our plan for educating your child for the next two months. Please let us know if you have any questions. We are here to help. Mr. Franzwa Virtual materials for your child can be picked up on Friday, November 13 between 12:00 and 4:00 PM. Please reference my earlier communication about where you should go to pick up virtual materials depending on your child’s grade level. Our next pick up/drop off date will be Friday, December 4. If everything goes well this Friday, we will run it the same way that day. I will send something out again prior to December 4. Student schedule - Starting Monday, November 16 students should either be receiving their instruction virtually through google classroom and zoom, or from a paper packet. Virtual - Our “live” virtual schedule is Monday - Thursday from 8:00 AM until sometime between 12:30 and 1:00 PM depending on the grade. Some grade levels have scheduled a student break into their day, and lunch for all grades is at 11:30. From 1:00 PM until 3:30, students can watch pre-recorded lessons and work on their assignments. The number of pre-recorded lessons will depend on their grade level. Some examples of pre-recorded lessons include: science or social studies, number corner, and the designated special (art, music, PE, IMC, or guidance) for that day. Students and/or parents can also contact their teacher if they have questions on any of the lessons or assigned work. Paper packet - students that choose this option will have the freedom to complete their work in any order that they choose. They will be responsible for the same content, but the lessons may be a little different. These students and their families can also contact their child’s teacher between the hours of 1:00 and 3:30 if they have questions. Pre-recorded lessons - if a student chooses the virtual option and they have a schedule conflict one day, they will always have the option to log in to their grade level google classroom page and watch the pre-recorded lessons for that day. A more detailed schedule of your child’s day will be included in the material sent home this Friday, November 13. Fridays - Students will still have academic responsibilities on Fridays, but therel will be no “live” lessons from their teacher. There may be pre-recorded lessons for the students to watch, and other independent work that has been assigned to them. Staff would still be available if students or parents should need to contact them with questions. Attendance will be taken daily for our virtual learners. We will take attendance based on the completion of assigned work for students that choose the paper packet option. It will be the same for the students that can only watch the pre-recorded lessons after 1:00 PM. If you know in advance that your child needs to be absent one day, please continue to contact the elementary office so they can be excused. Quarantined students should continue with their learning unless they are sick. Breakfast/lunch - The district has sent out a survey and will be continuing to offer meals in the same fashion that we did last spring. If you are ever in need of a resource or additional materials, we can include it in the meal delivery to your home on a particular day.

Elementary virtual material pick up information- This Friday, November 13 from noon until 4:00 PM, parents can stop by the elementary school and pick up their child’s virtual materials. The plan is to give your child enough material to last until Friday, December 4th. We will be doing things a little different for this pick up than we have in the past. If you plan on driving into school, you will have to find an area to park and walk to the designated entrance for your child. Please make sure that you (and anyone else that is with you) wear a mask, and respectfully distance from families that may be in line ahead of you. Here are the locations for each grade level: The EC/4K pick up location will be at door number 28. These are the doors at the end of their hallway that face the tennis courts. The 5K pick up location will be at door number 29. This is the main entrance into the elementary and is located right next to the office on Mill Street. The 1st grade pick up location will be at door number 27. These are the doors that the students use to go in and out for recess. Parents will have to park in the new bus drive, walk through a gate, and then walk across the blacktop area of our playground to get to this door. The 2nd grade pick up location will be at door number 26. This is the door located at the end of their hallway. Parents should drive back between the pool and the elementary playground, park alongside the fence boarding the playground, and walk up to door number 26. The 3rd grade pick up location will be at door number 24. Third grade parents should drive back between the pool and the elementary playground and head towards the greenhouse. You should see door number 24 on your right. Find an area to park your vehicle and walk up to door number 24. This might be the most challenging area for parents and so I apologize in advance. The 4th grade pick up location will be at door number 31. This is the entrance at the end of their hallway located on Mill Street. The 5th grade pick up location will be at door number 33. This is the entrance between the new loading dock and new art room. Parents, please park your vehicle alongside the cafeteria on Mill Street and walk up to that door.

Parents of elementary aged students, School pictures will be arriving tomorrow, Wednesday, November 11. We will plan to hand them out during our student material pick-up on Friday, November 13. We will be sending out another message soon to families that includes the times and locations for those pick-ups. If your child didn’t have their picture taken, or if you would like re-takes, we have scheduled retakes for Wednesday, December 16th. We are planning to begin with an 8:00 AM - noon re-take schedule. If there is a need, we would extend it further into the day. Re-take pictures would not be available until sometime in January, 2021. Parents can contact Leah Bursaw in the elementary office (715-926-3645) to sign their child up for a 10 minute re-take appointment. You will have until Friday, December 4th to schedule an appointment. One parent will be allowed to come into the building with their child. I will share more details at a later date with the families that have signed up for re-takes. Thanks- Mr. Franzwa

As we approach the end of our reopening window (9/1 - 10/30), I would like to inform you of a few changes that we are planning for with our in-person learning starting on Monday, Nov. 2. 1. We are planning to maintain our cohort model, but we will be re-implementing the traditional model of specials (art, music, PE) back into the schedule. 2. All students will be dismissed at the same time and we will only offer the 3:30 bus route. If your child currently goes home at 2:30, and their destination will change due to the 3:30 dismissal for all students, please contact the elementary office (715) 926-3645. 3. The after-school homework club will no longer be offered. If your child is currently receiving their education remotely, please call the office by Friday, October 23. At that time we would like you to let us know if your child will continue with remote learning, or if they will return for in-person learning on November 2nd. The phone number is (715) 926-3645. We have also been working on a separate plan in the event that we need to transition to 100% remote learning at any time. The district would provide chromebooks to all elementary students, and is prepared to accommodate families with internet connectivity issues. There would be a two day buffer of no school before starting the 100% remote schedule to allow staff and families the opportunity to get everything prepared, dispersed, and collected.

Parents - we have recently had a lot of unsafe and inappropriate behavior by some unsupervised students on the elementary playground during after school hours. We have decided to lock the playground starting at 3:45 each night, and not allow students to use it. We will communicate with you if anything changes in the future.
