Good Morning Parents of Mondovi Elementary Students,
I hope that you all had a safe and happy holiday season. Next Monday, January 11 students will be returning to face to face instruction. They have been virtual since early-mid November (depending on the grade), and we are really excited for them to return! If you would like to bring some of their virtual learning materials back early, we will have a return drop off this Friday, January 8 from noon until 4:00 PM. The entrances will be staffed and we are asking that you please have their items bagged up and labeled with their name, grade, and teacher.
4K and 5K families can bring items back to door 28. These are the doors at the end of their hallway that face the tennis courts.
1st and 2nd grade can return their items to door 29, the main elementary entrance located next to the office on Mill Street.
3rd-5th grade can return their items to door 31, the entrance at the end of their hallway and to the east of the main entrance on Mill Street.
If you can’t make that day work to return some of their items, it is OK. We just thought that it might help to lighten the load for students when they return on the 11th. Thank you and we look forward to seeing the students again next Monday!
Paul Franzwa

Please remember to let the Elementary School Office know by the end of the day on Monday, January 4 if you are planning for your child to continue with virtual education when we return on the 11th.

We are beginning to plan for our return to face to face instruction which will now be Monday, January 11. One thing that will be different since the last time we were face to face is that we will now have our students attend their specials (art, music, PE, and IMC) in the specialist classrooms. Please know that we will continue to take several measures to ensure that your child will be safe here at school. We would like to know which students are planning to continue with virtual learning once we return. Once your decision is made about continuing with virtual or coming back for face to face instruction, we are asking that you stick with it and avoid making a change. Please contact the elementary office by the end of the day on Monday, January 4 if you plan to continue with virtual instruction on January 11.

Mondovi Elementary December Birthday Wishes...

Reminder - since classes are only scheduled for Monday and Tuesday this week, the meals are only available Monday and Tuesday this week. Have a great Thanksgiving!

Dear Parents/Guardians,
We have scheduled Elementary Parent-Teacher Conferences for Tuesday, December 8 and Thursday, December 10. The conferences will be from 4:30-8:00 PM, and your child’s teacher should be contacting you soon about scheduling a 20 minute appointment with them. We will be offering conferences over zoom. Zoom allows for a live meeting between the parents and teacher. It also allows for parents to call in if they can’t do a live zoom meeting. When your child’s teacher contacts you, they will be asking the type of meeting you would prefer (live or phone). If you choose phone, they will need to provide you with some additional information allowing you to be able to join at the scheduled meeting time. If you choose live, you will receive a link that you can click to join the meeting at your scheduled time.
If you would like to schedule a time to meet with one of your child’s specialists teachers (Art, Music, PE, IMC, and Guidance), you can email them to set up a time. They will also be conducting their conferences over zoom and will be providing both the live and phone options as well. Here are the specialists emails:
Mrs. Kees, 5K-5th grade Art, lkees@mondovi.k12.wi.us
Mrs. Kurth, 5K-5th grade Music, dkurth@mondovi.k12.wi.us
Ms. Kinne, 5K-5th grade IMC, mkinne@mondovi.k12.wi.us
Mrs Erickson, 5K-5th grade Guidance, ferickson@mondovi.k12.wi.us
Mr. Bielmeier, 5K-2nd grade PE, pbielmeier@mondovi.k12.wi.us
Mr. Seyforth, 3rd-5th grade PE, mseyforth@mondovi.k12.wi.us
If you are unable to email the specialists to set up an appointment, you can also call Leah in the elementary office and set up a time. Office hours are from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM, and the phone number is (715) 926-3645.
We look forward to meeting with you to discuss your child’s progress. Please reach out to your child’s teacher or call the office if you have any other questions regarding P-T conferences.
Thank you-
Mr. Franzwa

The first day of virtual instruction for the elementary went very well! The number of students that were able to join was impressive, and it was definitely great to see them again. Thank you to all of the families that helped make this possible.

For the families that are having the school meals delivered, please have your dog(s) tied up and if you're not going to be home, please leave a cooler outside for the meals to be placed in. Thank you!

Parents/Guardians,
I would like to share some information with you regarding our plan for educating your child for the next two months. Please let us know if you have any questions. We are here to help.
Mr. Franzwa
Virtual materials for your child can be picked up on Friday, November 13 between 12:00 and 4:00 PM. Please reference my earlier communication about where you should go to pick up virtual materials depending on your child’s grade level. Our next pick up/drop off date will be Friday, December 4. If everything goes well this Friday, we will run it the same way that day. I will send something out again prior to December 4.
Student schedule - Starting Monday, November 16 students should either be receiving their instruction virtually through google classroom and zoom, or from a paper packet.
Virtual - Our “live” virtual schedule is Monday - Thursday from 8:00 AM until sometime between 12:30 and 1:00 PM depending on the grade. Some grade levels have scheduled a student break into their day, and lunch for all grades is at 11:30. From 1:00 PM until 3:30, students can watch pre-recorded lessons and work on their assignments. The number of pre-recorded lessons will depend on their grade level. Some examples of pre-recorded lessons include: science or social studies, number corner, and the designated special (art, music, PE, IMC, or guidance) for that day. Students and/or parents can also contact their teacher if they have questions on any of the lessons or assigned work.
Paper packet - students that choose this option will have the freedom to complete their work in any order that they choose. They will be responsible for the same content, but the lessons may be a little different. These students and their families can also contact their child’s teacher between the hours of 1:00 and 3:30 if they have questions.
Pre-recorded lessons - if a student chooses the virtual option and they have a schedule conflict one day, they will always have the option to log in to their grade level google classroom page and watch the pre-recorded lessons for that day.
A more detailed schedule of your child’s day will be included in the material sent home this Friday, November 13.
Fridays - Students will still have academic responsibilities on Fridays, but therel will be no “live” lessons from their teacher. There may be pre-recorded lessons for the students to watch, and other independent work that has been assigned to them. Staff would still be available if students or parents should need to contact them with questions.
Attendance will be taken daily for our virtual learners. We will take attendance based on the completion of assigned work for students that choose the paper packet option. It will be the same for the students that can only watch the pre-recorded lessons after 1:00 PM. If you know in advance that your child needs to be absent one day, please continue to contact the elementary office so they can be excused. Quarantined students should continue with their learning unless they are sick.
Breakfast/lunch - The district has sent out a survey and will be continuing to offer meals in the same fashion that we did last spring. If you are ever in need of a resource or additional materials, we can include it in the meal delivery to your home on a particular day.
